Hello everyone, thank you for your support. I just got this broken mobo from a friend moving in. He mentioned some pins in the socket were bent. I managed to find them and probably fixed them, which is why I see the picture now. My friend didn’t get anything on the screen, so at least I did something right. The issue is that I can’t get past this display; none of the suggested keyboard shortcuts work. I’m sure the keyboard is still partially functional—Caps Lock and Num Lock lights up when those buttons are pressed. With that in mind, I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas about the problem. Could there still be a bent pin? Should I re-flash the BIOS or reset the CMOS? Please share any tips you might have. Here’s what I have on the board: Intel E5-2670 8GB DDR3, GTX 1070, 850W PSU. Yes, running without a cooler is risky—just tried it for 10-15 seconds while trying to access the BIOS. Thanks again for your help!
Everyone online claims it only takes a few seconds to damage a CPU without a heatsink, but this isn't true for any standard desktop CPU built in the past 25 years. It's never been a proper diagnostic method to power on a machine without any cooling and just have the top fan blow over the bare chip. Unclear who suggested this, but they were mistaken. Always attach a heatsink to ensure proper hardware for diagnostics.

Fair game. I resolved the fan issue right after capturing that photo last night, though it doesn’t change things now. I didn’t realize the static bag wouldn’t block static in that way—so it’s gone and I followed your guidance to install the cooler. I’m aware I might sound a bit clumsy, but I’ve built several computers before and really appreciate your support. Still, the problem remains: when powered on, the screen appears and stops accepting keyboard input except for num lock/caps lock. After leaving it on longer, the screen goes dark after a few minutes.
