The Gigabyte BIOS is stuck at a low resolution setting.
I’m checking the BIOS settings for better display quality. The current resolution appears low, especially before booting, and the Windows installer also shows limited options. I found a method using bcdedit.exe to adjust the highest mode, but it seems to be related to display ports rather than a simple setting change. Testing HDMI and a secondary monitor didn’t help. Pressing Alt + F6 opens a resolution list, though I can’t modify it directly. If you’re comfortable with BIOS edits, that might be the way forward.
Have you considered changing to another DisplayPort or a completely different connection? DP can sometimes be tricky. It might help to switch to HDMI and adjust the resolution first if you have a compatible cable.
I'm not sure what resolution my BIOS is set to. I don't really mind how polished or plain it looks. What I appreciate about a modern BIOS is the fan curve options—it's useful to see a visual that you can adjust with a mouse. However, I've never had any problems with the old blue BIOS menus, which were controlled entirely by keyboard and had almost no graphics. Even on my current B550 board, I mostly rely on the keyboard for changing settings, since that's what feels most comfortable to me.
I also tried the alternative ports, they all gave the same outcome. I can't pick a different resolution; the menu only lists available ones and I'm limited to clicking OK.
