The precision 7720 mouse has random cursor movement when pressure or activity is applied near the touchpad, even without touching it. This causes the mouse to dart unpredictably to the screen corners using the keyboard or when my palm touches the pad. The only temporary fix is randomly hitting the keyboard. I installed Dell touchpad software to disable the touchpad, but the issue persists. The touchpad still shows activity, and cleaning hasn’t resolved it. There are two cables connected; I disconnected cable A which doesn’t work, and removing cable B disables the keyboard. How can I completely disable the touchpad? Is there a cable I should disconnect?

How can I completely turn off the touchpad?
If your laptop isn’t covered by its warranty, you might consider swapping out the trackpad;
https://www.ebay.com/itm/195584479446
Have you attempted to disable the trackpad through Device Manager on a Windows system? Are there any pending BIOS or chipset updates for your laptop?
A quick workaround is to randomly tap the keyboard.
Be careful, damaging the laptop’s plastic casing could lead to more serious problems, such as the device failing to power on due to a missing component.
I’ve also cleaned the touchpad despite it being spotless.
If your laptop is still within warranty, I recommend contacting Dell to report the issue and check if a replacement is possible, as this behavior is unusual for a trackpad.
