Hi, I built a new PC for my son using some old components—a 3600 CPU and a 5700X GPU—powered by a 750W gold PSU. During Fortnite sessions, temperatures rarely exceed 80°C, which is good. I’ve enabled Windows Defender and run stress tests on both the CPU and GPU. I’m not very tech-savvy and want some advice without diving deep into tools like Event Viewer. Any suggestions?

Hi Andrew, Are you noticing the PC simply fades to black or does it just stop responding on the screen? Open Event Viewer, navigate to Windows Logs > System, and look for entries marked as 'Critical'. These usually indicate a crash or serious issue. Continue scrolling to see if any prior events build up to that point. Don’t stress over numerous warnings about Distributed Com or Security Kernel—these are often normal and unrelated. If you’re dealing with a display driver problem, especially on an Nvidia GPU, watch for amber alerts about the driver failing or recovering. Right-click the System menu in Event Viewer and select 'Clear Log' to reset the data. Try launching Fortnite again while monitoring the time. After rebooting, revisit Event Viewer at the relevant timestamp to spot useful details. When you reinstalled Windows, did you perform a complete reset—deleting all data and partitions beforehand? The OS usually offers rollback or recovery options, but a full reinstall is often the best solution. Also, check if your CPU or GPU was overclocked; if so, revert to default settings in BIOS for stability. Stay updated.
