Hello, I’m dealing with an issue on my budget gaming laptop. It has a Core i5 processor, RTX4060 graphics, and 16GB of RAM (MSI Cyborg 15 A12V). The system was working well for games like NFS Unbound, Fortnite, and Marvel’s Spiderman, but now it feels odd. Games load slower and seem to take longer. NFS runs smoothly on the High setting before, but stutters even on Medium. It appears the GPU isn’t performing optimally. I’ve recorded some in-game footage for reference.

I’ve tried several fixes: closing unnecessary programs, forcing games to use the Nvidia GPU, updating drivers, reinstalling the game, and running a virus scan with Malwarebytes. The SSD shows 99% usage and appears healthy, with CrystalDiskMark reporting normal speeds. Still, loading times remain excessive.

Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? It could be related to the storage drive, but I checked it with CrystalDiskInfo. I’m a bit confused—please help me figure it out!

Check your CPU activity—could be running games on E5 or another limit setting, or a quiet mode is active.

You can observe the issue in the video, as it consistently exceeds 90%. Determine possible solutions and identify the maximum CPU limit. Find ways to eliminate or reduce this performance bottleneck.

What about your CPU temperatures?

It seems the CPU has a power limit of 15W. Are there any built-in software tools on the laptop that might affect these settings? The update could have altered some of those controls. Normally, the CPU operates at around 70W and can reach up to 100°C under certain conditions.

Temperature is just below 60°C. There’s no software controlling anything; only the MSI Center is running. I looked in the Windows settings for battery power mode and set it to High Performance, but it didn’t make a difference.

I’d attempt to reinstall Windows, possibly uncovering hidden software. Otherwise, the best choice seems to be returning to the RMA process (if manual restoration isn’t feasible). Turn on MSSI afterburner to display CPU and GPU frequencies, providing clear evidence that the processor isn’t reaching its intended speeds.

I understand, though I’d have liked a solution sooner. I didn’t realize the “System” process was consuming so much CPU/RAM/Disk while playing. Not sure if that would make a difference.

It seems you're asking about a Bitcoin miner and its compatibility with Windows Defender. Could you clarify if you want information on whether Windows Defender blocks or allows such a miner?

No results were detected. The malwarebytes check also came back clean.
