I usually use a 120hz 16:9 1080p screen. I've always wanted to play CSGO on a 4:3 format and stretch it to 16:9, but I don't really like the look or how it hides my surroundings well. The 16:9 format has made it easier to spot enemies in corners too many times. I saw BenQ's XR3501, a 144hz ultrawide monitor, and thought about stretching it to 21:9. I believe that could give me an edge in competition. What do you think about this idea?

It seems the 21:9 configuration might already be available.

The goal isn't to enlarge the image. When you play CSGO, pro players often use 16:9 resolution but set their own to 4:3, which stretches the view and makes enemies simpler to hit.

I believe it doesn't stretch, just featuring black bars. This seems like my usual impression from other source-based games.

21:9 often displays black bars, so you need to adjust the image stretching on your monitor if it allows. Personally, I played CSGO on my 21:9 screen while it was functioning (screen cracked) at 2560 x 1080 resolution. Many thought I was hacking due to my wide field of view, even though I mostly enjoyed it. I still see enough clarity to easily hit AK or M4 headshots.

it varies by monitor. the 4:3 to 16:9 adjustment is essentially running the game in fullscreen at 4:3 (for example, 1280x1024) and then stretching it to 1920x1080 to utilize every pixel, or adding black bars around it to maintain perfect image quality. my TV actually explains this clearly: "stretch" (what OP refers to) or "dot-per-dot" (black bars).

I use an LG 21:9 Ultra Wide (25" 75Hz) 1080P display, which feels stretched. I watch at 2560x1080 and it works fine. The HUD appears larger but still functions properly.
