This has been a problem for a while, with my 1% lows looking poor and usage showing consistently low stats. If there was a clear limitation, I wouldn’t be as confused or upset. My specs include: CPU 5700X, GPU 7800XT, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 2TB Crucial T500 SSD, Asus Prime B450 PLUS motherboard, Corsair RM850e CS2 at 1440p high settings, and all relevant settings enabled. I’ve tried AMD Adrenaline drivers for better performance but prefer avoiding that setup. It seems similar issues aren’t happening in other games either. Anyone know why this is occurring? Thanks for any advice—I’ve been stressed about this for months.
You might face CPU limitations even without high utilization numbers, since games don't scale well across all hardware threads. The real issue often lies in single-thread performance rather than overall usage. On today's many-core processors, it's normal for threads to run below 100% but still be hindered by their single-thread speed. This guide can assist you in spotting a CPU bottleneck.
I think it’s worth checking if this CPU is really limiting performance. Even if it’s a bottleneck, I’d still anticipate better results. For instance, in the video you mentioned, despite matching the in-game settings, I’m seeing around 150 average FPS compared to the 270 the other player is achieving.
General low frame rate is common, you could simply reduce the settings.
The frame rate remains fairly consistent even when adjusting to low settings. It generally stays near 4Ghz. It seems like they might be pushing the CPU further than expected, or perhaps CS:GO isn’t as lightweight as it appears. I chose this video because it closely matches my setup. Thanks for your support—it makes me think I might be overestimating what this game can handle.
