The games pause intermittently, stopping for a few moments and then resuming.
I recently installed a new GPU on my PC, and it works fine for less demanding games. However, when playing graphically intense titles like GTA 5 or Hitman 2, the game freezes briefly—about 5 to 10 seconds—before resuming. This occurs roughly every 5 to 10 minutes. The issue seems consistent with Hitman 2 (2018) as well. I’m unsure if this is related to my GPU, since before upgrading the graphics card, the performance was already subpar. Is there a way to fix this problem?
I didn't check the CPU temperature, but the GPU stays under 60 during the first freeze. It doesn’t even take time to heat up—each initial freeze lasts less than 5 to 10 minutes. The PSU is an Antec NeoEco 550M (new version with flat black cables). I just installed the latest drivers using autodetect software from AMD after searching for drivers. I didn’t uninstall the previous ones.
The game runs without any interruptions; it pauses briefly for 5 to 10 seconds before resuming normally.
That's what I meant by a "stutter," but I think "freeze" fits better. It seems the disk usage is high, RAM is being strained, and the old HDD is struggling under load—especially when loading game assets. I noticed it once too. Be sure to mention the person you're responding to, @jaslion.
Isn't it unnecessary to include a quote when posting your initial response on OP? They receive notifications in the same way, right? I post this to avoid cluttering the discussion. Also, on my PC I think you're correct about the pagefile being heavily used. OP might want to lower the settings back to what they had before having the GPU, keeping an FPS cap in mind.
That message wasn't meant for you—I only mentioned you because he replied, though I didn't quote you. Usually the author sticks to the topic unless they disable it. It seems your concern is about disk usage; at 6.5GB out of 8GB, it might start causing page file issues.
