For the last six hours, I’ve been experiencing significantly low frame rates while playing Watch Dogs 2, which I purchased yesterday. Despite setting all graphics to the highest settings, my frame rate hasn’t improved even after reducing them.

My system specifications are as follows:
Graphics Card: GTX 1070 (Zotac)
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700
Memory: 8GB DDR4 RAM
Motherboard: Z170X-Gaming 3
Storage: A 240GB Solid State Drive and a 1TB Hard Disk Drive—Watch Dogs 2 is installed on the 1TB drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

Despite a powerful processor like an i7, you’ll likely experience occasional stuttering. This game is particularly demanding on your CPU.

Your 1070 won’t handle everything at the highest settings. Begin by enabling SMAA, then reduce screen space reflections to a minimal level, and lower shadows significantly.

Lowering the detail of models will also assist your CPU’s performance.

What is the display quality? And what are the typical frames per second and frame rate fluctuations? It’s well-established that even powerful graphics cards, such as the GTX 1080 and 1070, struggle to deliver an optimal gaming experience. I attempted to run WD2 on my GTX 1070 from ASUS, and unfortunately, I couldn’t maintain a consistent 60 frames per second at the highest settings.

The resolution is 1920 by 1080. What's the average frames per second, and what’s the typical drop in frames? It’s well-established that even powerful graphics cards, such as the GTX 1080 and 1070, often don’t deliver an optimal gaming experience. I attempted to run WD2 on my GTX 1070 from ASUS, and unfortunately, I couldn’t maintain a consistent frame rate of 60 frames per second at the ULTRA settings. In the hacker space, I achieved frame rates between 60 and 70 frames per second, but when transitioning to other areas, the FPS decreased significantly, sometimes plummeting to just 30 frames per second or even 12 frames per second.

It appears unusual… I suspect the issue could stem from having 8 gigabytes of memory. My system includes a GTX 1070 graphics card, an i5-4690 processor, and 16 gigabytes of RAM, and despite a weak CPU, it performs adequately. I believe that the constraint is the smaller amount of RAM. I haven’t played this game lately because I'm currently engrossed in DISHONORED 2, and I can’t recall the precise memory consumption at that time.

Even a powerful i7 processor will result in occasional frame stutters due to its demanding nature. The GTX 1070 won't handle every setting at the highest levels; ensure you’re utilizing SMAA first. Reduce screen space reflections to a minimum, and lower shadows to the highest possible setting. Finally, decrease geometry detail to improve CPU performance.

I recently stumbled upon this discussion. I installed WD2 yesterday. With my GTX 1070 and 8 gigs of memory, I reduced the detail level and adjusted most settings to medium. I experienced frame rates between 55 and 60 frames per second while driving, and maintained 60 fps when walking. This game features a notably peculiar engine.
