Good evening everyone. I'm attempting to play Age of Mythology on LAN with a friend, but it's only playable after the Tale of The Dragon update. Single-player works just fine, though LAN performance is noticeably slow. We've tested it across three different machines, and none experienced problems in single-player mode. The three rigs we used are quite powerful and run smoothly in single-player. I'm certain this isn't due to slow internet—it's the LAN setup with a gigabit connection that works well for other games.

Online P2P connections have been mentioned as a potential issue, but it seems the slowest PC is still faster than the game demands. LAN isn’t the problem; it’s something else. I’ve removed all mods and re-downloaded the game multiple times. We've checked hardware compatibility across various configurations: AMD+AMD, AMD+Nvidia, Intel+Nvidia, and kept drivers up to date.

Possible reasons for the lag could include:
- The new gods, units, or maps not being properly supported in multiplayer.
- A glitch in the skybox during the expansion update.
- The giant map might be buggy (we’ll check soon).
- Unknown factors affecting performance.

Based on what we’ve observed so far:
- Game slows down even when only AI players are online.
- Playing classic maps with Chinese gods causes noticeable lag.
- Classic maps with only classic gods run mostly smoothly, though occasional spikes occur.
- Multiplayer consistently lags, while single-player remains stable.

Upcoming tests:
- Using Tale of The Dragon maps with classic gods.
- Disabling ToTD DLC completely.
- Trying different map sizes (possibly the giant map is the culprit).
- We’ll gather more data in the next few hours.

Hardware tested:
- Rig 1: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @4.3GHz (OC disabled didn’t help).
- Rig 2: AMD FX 8320 Zotac GTX 780ti + Corsair Vengeance, 8GB RAM.
- Rig 3: Intel Xeon E5450 Zotac GTX 960 + 8GB RAM.

We’ll also share this info on the AOM Reddit and Steam community, hoping to get advice or support from others and possibly the developers.

I didn't check if you disabled firewalls on every device, including Windows systems.

Firewall turned off on both setups. Considered that a necessary step, so no need to mention it initially. EDIT: It shouldn’t interfere when using bots, only the local network matters.

Tested with only classic gods, on classic map, with large map. all running pretty smoothly, a HUGE lag right at the beggining, but after 5 seconds it goes away and it's pretty much smooth gaming. The fault seems to be something to do with ToTD.
