Hey yall, I've been trying to play Half Life Alyx and so far have had zero issues. I got to Chapter 7: Jeff and there's this wierd red fog I'm supposed to walk through to get to the next area but when I walk through it my entire PC just instantly shuts off and goes to a black screen. The whole PC loses power. It's never happened before so i'm just really confused what's happening with it. PC Specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X GPU: RX 6950XT RAM: 32GB XPG DDR4 3200MhZ MOBO: Asus X570 Pro PSU:Corsair RM1000i

Check for graphics driver updates or consider resetting the system. Determine if the PC restarts automatically during black screens or stops completely. If it shuts down, listen for any clicks around the power supply area.

No sounds at all, no restarting process. The PC turns off completely, the power button stays on, and there are no ticketing alerts from the power supply. I’ll try resetting the graphics drivers to check the outcome.

It's a positive sign the PC remains operational. Proceed with reverting the graphics drivers and let me know what you observe. Do the fans adjust their speed when the screen goes black?

I haven't had a chance to observe the fans' actions yet, but I'll attempt to revert the drivers and then follow up with you.

It seems the previous attempts didn't resolve the issue. I discovered a Stress Test Software that matches HL Alyx results, and I've included it here. Video documenting my experience.

It's unusual that everything stops yet you still have power coming from the LED. These aren't standard cables, so it's likely the custom sleeved ones are the issue. The graphics card might be the problem if stress testing triggers the crash. Can you try running it on another system to see if the symptoms appear there?

Sorry to hear that. I don’t have the capacity to perform those actions. The server NAS is quite compact, making it hard to fit a large GPU inside. I previously attempted a workaround by using an SSD I usually use for games, wiping it, reinstalling Windows 10, updating everything, and installing Steam VR and Alyx. Despite those efforts, the issue persisted—power cut completely when moving through the smoke.

It's disappointing, but disabling XMP and restarting might help.

I've reattempted the process without XMP enabled. I'll check if Windows generates any warning messages before it shuts down.
