The game isn't working properly.
I enjoy playing Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, it’s likely one of my top picks. That’s why it feels disappointing when performance drops as expected. I own a 3700x and a 2070 Super, but I can’t reach 95fps across all settings. Is this typical or is there something wrong? I’m also using 1440p with HDR, but the problem began at 1080p without it, so it probably isn’t that setting.
Typically I run around 80 fps at 1440p using my 2080ti at full settings, which aligns well with a 2070 likely.
The game isn't running smoothly on your PC. It seems to have a poor connection or port issue.
That's what I thought, but it's disappointing—it's a great game.
It was intended for the PS4 at 30 frames per second. That explains why it isn't performing well.
The developers created the game, which requires a lot of data transfer. A more detailed look at wireframing and texturing, along with asset positioning, is better than other videos. The 4m:15s clip shows that more than just the PCIe port is needed for smooth performance. RAM bandwidth plays a minor role, but GPU bandwidth gets heavily taxed in HZD, causing some cards to perform worse than anticipated.
