The game is unable to detect my GPU.
Hi everyone,
As mentioned in the title, RDR 2 is now having trouble accessing my GPU. Everything seemed normal yesterday with no changes made, no downloads or uninstallations. The problem started when I tried to launch the game; the screen would appear dark as if loading, then return to my desktop with an error alert about missing hardware requirements and needing GPU driver updates. My drivers are current, and a reinstall didn’t help. I’m not sure what’s wrong, but it’s definitely RDR2 that’s causing the issue. Other games are fine, and all system software confirms the GPU is present and functioning properly.
Update: It might have been fixed, but I’ll check again if it happens again.
My system details:
GPU: MSI Radeon RX 6700 xt Mech 2x OC
CPU: Intel i5-11600K
Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix Z590-A
BIOS Version: 0605
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4 3600
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G+, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular
OS & Version: WINDOWS 10 home 64bit
GPU Drivers: 21.10.03.08-210511a-368629C-RadeonSoftware
You are playing RDR 2 on various platforms. If you're unsure how to proceed, try validating the files on Steam. Just go to your library, locate the game, right-click in the list, click properties, then select Local files and click Validate Integrity of game files... I have most other major platforms on PC, so if you're not sure, let me know which one and I can help.
Yes, a full reinstall of the game files shouldn't cause problems. Have you checked the game folder for any tool or config executables?
It looks like the issue might have been resolved by reinstalling the drivers. I'm still trying to figure out what caused the problem, but it seems to be working now. Appreciate your help!
