My computer exhibits an odd problem specifically when I'm playing first-person shooter games. I can comfortably play other genres without any problems, however, launching titles like Black Ops 3, Battlefield 1, or Battlefield V consistently results in a crash. During these crashes, my headphones, keyboard, and mouse completely cease functioning, while the game continues to run with my character’s movement. Despite attempting different USB ports on both my motherboard and computer tower, none of my peripherals receive power—it’s as if they are completely dead. This issue has persisted for over a year, leading me to believe it was isolated to Black Ops 3 until recently when I attempted the Battlefield games, confirming a broader problem. My system specifications are: Windows 10 64-bit, i7-5930k processor, 32GB of RAM, and a Vega 56 graphics card.

I was wondering which headphones you're utilizing? I haven’t identified any logical reason why a keyboard and mouse would function effectively in various games, yet not within first-person shooters. The FPS titles you mentioned are frequently enjoyed in multiplayer environments as well.

My hypothesis is that this may stem from how your headphones interact with voice communication within games, possibly also linked to your multiplayer voice settings in those specific games. This would be especially relevant if you're playing these games online.

To investigate this, try disconnecting your headphones and utilizing speakers if available. If the issue resolves, it suggests a conflict with your headphone setup or your multiplayer voice settings. Conversely, if the problem persists, consider modifying your voice communication preferences within the games themselves.

Another potential cause could be an issue with either your computer's USB input for controllers or the headset driver—if one is needed.

Could you examine the Windows Event Viewer for any recorded error messages?

What exactly is the Windows Event Viewer, and how do I operate it effectively? The Windows Event Viewer provides a record of application and system notifications, encompassing errors, informational messages, and alerts.

I was wondering, what headphones are you utilizing? I don't believe there’s a logical explanation why the keyboard/mouse would function adequately in various games, yet not in first-person shooters. The FPS titles you mentioned are frequently enjoyed in multiplayer as well.

I suspect it could be related to how your headphones interact with voice communication within games, and possibly also linked to your multiplayer voice settings in those specific games—particularly when playing online.

To investigate this, attempt to disconnect your headphones and utilize speakers if available. If the issue disappears, it suggests a conflict with your headset or your multiplayer voice settings. Conversely, if switching to speakers resolves the problem, try modifying your voice communication configurations within those games.

Another potential cause could be an issue with either the computer’s USB input device, outdated headset drivers (if needed), USB controller drivers, or even general system file issues.

In addition to the Event Viewer suggestion, you can examine Device Manager for missing drivers and execute an SFC scan to identify any potential problems with system files.

Hello everyone, a recent crash occurred, and I employed mInit Toolbox to pinpoint the exact moment of the issue.

Error: (10/02/2019 09:15:51 PM) (Origin: ESENT) (User: )
Details: The process 'svchost' (process ID 15552, running status R, priority 98) encountered a problem – error -1023 (0xfffffc01) – while attempting to access the log file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log.

I possess an older Corsair headset, and I don't recall its specific model name. However, this represents the fourth such device I’ve replaced in recent years due to prior failures. Consequently, it's conceivable that this headset may be contributing to the current problem. I plan to discontinue using it temporarily and observe its impact on system stability.

Are there any further issues? My Windows has also experienced a damaged edb.log file, despite the system remaining stable and without any crashes. It appears to be a problem with the Windows search database.

Hey, by the way, what kind of headphones did you end up with?
