Consider increasing the memory allocation. Currently I have around four GB, but it seems to be shutting down now.

It must be displayed via your graphics card, so it needs rendering through it. On desktops this is the standard setting. On gaming laptops you often have to choose the graphics accelerator manually each time. The issue happens because they opted for Java.

Consider increasing the memory allocation to 4GB. I’m almost certain this will resolve your issue.

In addition to rewriting the game yourself in a real language, you can't really do much else. Just ensure you have at least 4GB of dedicated memory, VSync turned off, OptiFine installed and properly configured (defaults should work), and avoid loading maps from a flash drive that transfers data at 5 MB/s.

It likely wouldn’t have a noticeable impact since the game is already operating on just a fraction of its allocated memory.

It seems like you're questioning how minimal usage could work, but I see it as something that won't cause any issues. You definitely have enough memory to run it with 4 GB, and I'm sure I've noticed improvements before.

These suggestions work well overall. But with certain newer GPUs, Optifine produces poorer outcomes compared to using it without.

It's likely Mojang has sufficient funds to keep the game functional and enjoyable.

I should also highlight updating to a recent release. They faced a challenging phase where everything felt very poor (around 1.2 or so—when they stopped using the dedicated singleplay server and switched to multiplayer servers for all games). Things improved significantly once that change was made (around 1.8, possibly earlier—I don’t remember), and it became smooth and playable again!
