You're experiencing some odd mouse movement after a Skyrim restart. It sounds like your input settings or game configuration might be misaligned. Try checking your mouse settings in the game options and ensure you're not accidentally switching between different input modes. Also, verify that your skill levels are correctly recorded—sometimes level jumps can affect in-game controls. If the issue persists, consider resetting your game files or consulting a modding community for help.

Bethesda designed the system this way to align with real-world usage patterns. The left-click gesture naturally triggers the right hand, reflecting common hand positioning. When adapting for gamepads on older consoles like the X360 and PS3, they mapped Right Shoulder to Right Hand and Left Shoulder to Left Hand, simplifying setup. For skills, a fixed base value of 15 was set by default, preventing excessive grinding—only reaching full levels at 85 before resetting to 15 for Legendary abilities. Skill tree progression isn’t directly tied to character level, ensuring balance.

The left side controls move your right arm, and the level-up feature isn’t a bug—it’s designed so a basic character can reach higher levels with one arm.

Skyrim was built to work seamlessly on both PC and console with minimal changes needed. Bethesda mapped inputs so naturally: left-click (mouse) = right shoulder (gamepad) = right hand. Left-click (mouse) = left shoulder (gamepad) = left hand. This wasn’t a glitch—it was intentionally designed that way.
