It performed excellently on my X79 setup, maintaining over 60 FPS consistently even at the high preset. The only limitation was AA, which ran at 4xAA instead of the expected 16x. I don’t know your hardware specs or the exact version of GTA IV you’re using, but there seems to be an issue. PS: Your peak FPS reached higher than 110-120 during flight with the chopper.
The Max Payne 3 (praised as one of the top PC ports) is being developed for GTA V, which gives good hope. GTA IV was intense and often problematic, never running smoothly on powerful systems. It's similar to how Arma tends to struggle on high-end machines.
Are you sure about that threshold? I think it's much lower, around 20.
Works fine for me it even worked pretty well on my GTX 670 my old 5670 had a bit of a struggle tho. Theres a ton of evidence that GTA V wont be a port for PC and it will actually be lead platform. Even if its a great port tho that doesn't stop the bs lag u get when playing online with people from other countries since they decided to skimp out and not give us dedicated servers but made it so basically everyone in the game is there own mini server.
You are running a 7 year old game in top of the line hardware in terms of performance. If it didnt run at average 60 fps on that rig i would be worried. This is the benchmark run i did. My rig drops to 40 fps sometimes, the average is about 65 fps on the benchmark but i dont like framedrops. This is the benchmark run i did.
