Acquired a fresh setup and while most titles perform well, Far Cry 4's handling feels subpar. Everyone claims the AMD FX-6300 won't overload a GTX 960, yet in practice it seems to struggle. At 1080p with ultra settings I'm around 35-60 FPS, but lowering it to 720p still keeps the game running at high 30s to low 40s in certain areas. Is this a known issue or just Ubisoft's typical PC performance problems? Other games manage fine. Here are my details: AMD FX-6300 Gigabyte GTX 960 w 2GB VRAM GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ 8 GB RAM Cooler Master Force 500 case (with 500W power supply)

Optimization is lacking; perhaps don't consider that the conclusion should end here. You might discover a fix online. Monitor CPU activity during gaming—do you think FC4 still dedicates one core fully, or are three left under heavy load? I’m curious if it’s now balanced. If it depends on just one core for most tasks, that could be the issue, since using only one or 1.5 cores won’t deliver strong performance on an FX processor.

Absolutely, you're correct. Most of my other titles perform well too. I was initially concerned about the CPU power, but it seems to be handling things fine. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Great suggestion. I’ll restart the game to test my CPU performance. I’ll share a screenshot if possible.

Avoid needing to restart... Unparking certain cores might have no effect or could change things... Give it a shot. (It prevents unused cores from shutting down fully and fixes odd threading behaviors Windows applies.)

This looks unusual, but it's working fine now. It's running smoothly at over 70 frames per second. I've verified that each CPU core is being utilized fairly evenly, with usage around 40-60%.

Consider boosting the performance, I'm using a 6300 with a 290x and faced a major issue in GTA V recently. I had to increase its speed to make it work. You might want to install an overclocking program such as AI Suite or AMD Overdrive to let it run smoothly.

Consider getting a third-party cooler if you intend to overclock your 6300. It can help maintain performance and stability.

Yeah, maybe hold off for a aftermarket cooler.
