Hello, I checked the forums before posting but didn’t find a clear solution. For a case with a front USB-C port and a motherboard supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.2 Gen 2 is typically needed for optimal performance. If you stick to Gen 1, speeds will be lower. Other USB header types that can work with a USB-C port are also available, depending on compatibility. Let me know if you need more details!

Gen 2 offers double the speed of Gen 1, providing 10Gbps compared to 5Gbps. It's unclear if the front panel will work with various USB versions.

Thanks in advance for your response. Doubling the bandwidth really stands out. It makes me consider switching to a different motherboard. On the flip side, I’m not sure if 3.2 Gen 2 is already widely used in storage devices. Still, it seems like a safer bet for the future. A tough decision!

As long as the connector fits, it should function properly. The speed is determined by the motherboard’s features. I’m using two external drives that are Gen 2 compatible, which will mainly help if you use SSDs or a multi-HDD RAID setup.

Yes, you should check the connector shape on the motherboard and match it with the plug from the case manufacturer.
