The friend's computer shuts down unexpectedly while in use.
My friend's computer shuts down unexpectedly during games or while browsing, even when idle. It doesn't seem to be affected by heavy programs like Valorant or Rocket League, nor by background apps such as Chrome or Hulu. There are no signs of overheating or other obvious issues. I've checked the Event Viewer but can't identify the cause. No error messages or crashes appear; just a sudden blackout. I'm ready to share any additional details you need. Thanks! PC specs: Ryzen 5 5600X, ASUS B-550A, G.Skill Trident Z, 2x8GB RAM, 3600MHz, Be Quiet Shadowrock, Zotac GTX 1660, Master V Gold V2, 750W. Edit* updated specs. Solution found: faulty power supply.
Corsair Vengeance/LPX may trigger an event viewer with Kernel 41 (unexpected shutdown). Attempt disabling c-states and power down mode. Check if power down is in the timing menu on your board. If the screen goes black but audio remains, another problem might be present.
That ram is not what's in thier system but mine. He has G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x8GB 3600MHz CL16. I am not seeing anything Kernel 41 related in the Event Viewer. I'll check the timings menu. As for the issue, everything shuts off, no signal from anything. I also just swapped out the PSU per CasoF13's recommendation. I found a few reviews online of other's having a similar issue with that PSU, but it was just a few.
Some power supplies can have minor problems, which is normal. After replacing the PSU, the issue might persist.
I just swapped out the power supply, so the system should be up until something goes wrong. I’ll check back either after it powers off again or if I don’t run into the problem for a week. I’ll keep an eye on it. My goal is to ensure his PC is functioning properly before he leaves, so I won’t have to go there to fix anything.
