Yesterday I chose to buy two additional RAM sticks. I changed from 2 and 4 slots to 1 and 3 to check compatibility, since my CPU cooler is large (Noctua). Now my RAM speed won’t exceed 2133MHz even with XMP enabled. After adding two more sticks, will it reach 3600MHz? That’s a big question.

Return them to positions 2 and 4 until the new RAM arrives, then insert the matching new RAM into positions 1 and 3.

You won't be certain until you purchase the sticks; if they match, your chances improve significantly, though it's still unpredictable.

The top choice is selling your current sticks and purchasing new sets of four or two bigger sticks. All options are acceptable, but kits remain the optimal solution. If kits aren’t available, adding two matching sticks is the next best alternative.
