Occasionally in games my frame rate will lock to specific numbers, and fixing it requires pressing alt-tab—it keeps happening again.
I've observed it locking at 118, 112, 90. If it drops to 90, I have to press alt-tab once more to return to the next higher locked value, then repeat until I reach 120.
Could this be related to my monitor? Would a monitor trigger such behavior? I'm using v-sync at 120 Hz and 60 fps.
I also noticed that when I disable v-sync with unlimited FPS, the problem disappears. V-sync seems to be the issue, something I've experienced for years.
