The FPS in Valorant hasn't improved after installing a new GPU?
Last week I upgraded from a GTX 1060 to an RTX 5050 yet my FPS in Valorant hasn't changed much...
In other titles such as Killing Floor 3 and Black Ops 6 the FPS has jumped three times.
I've tried:
- installing invidia drivers with DDU,
- updating nvidia drivers
Someone reported getting around 380FPS with an RTX 5050 + i5 12400F, but I only manage about 240FPS even when I lower the settings.
My specs are:
RTX 5050 8GB
i5 14400F
4x GSKILL DDR4 4GB RAM 2133 MT/s
Samsung M.2 SSD 980 500GB
MSI pro b760m DDR4
Aim for the most fluid experience on your screen. Although you've capped at 280FPS, you often fall short, especially in demanding scenarios where your FPS can dip below 200FPS.
Obtain quicker RAM to boost FPS in CPU-heavy games. You might have faced a performance limit with the GTX 1060.
Here’s the rephrased version:
1. If your GPU gets upgraded but you don’t notice an increase in FPS (and you clearly aren’t hitting a frame rate limit), it means your CPU is the bottleneck.
2. If you shouldn’t be CPU constrained (you have a fairly recent CPU), this suggests your RAM might be slowing things down, leading to similar performance issues.
3. Based on your current specs, it’s evident that your RAM is the main issue. You’re using four slow RAM sticks, which limits your CPU performance, which in turn restricts your new GPU.
4. A perfect RAM configuration would have just two high-speed, low-latency sticks. It would be wise to invest in a 16 GB package with two sticks (two x 8 GB), running at over 3600 MHz and offering low latency ratings (CL14-CL16).
Thank you for the clarification, i plan to enhance my RAM configuration to those specifications.
