My Rust game exhibits this unusual behavior where the frame rate gradually decreases over time, starting around 80 to 110 fps. After a short period it drops sharply to -5 fps or lower until it becomes unplayable, requiring a full restart for it to return to normal. I upgraded my GPU from an 1650 to a 9060xt with 16GB, following advice from a Steam forum member who suggested this might be the cause. I had already intended to upgrade and proceeded. This issue only occurs with Rust and wasn’t present before. I’m unsure if RAM speed is the culprit, but I’m seeking a solution without spending on more RAM at this stage.

PC Specifications
CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F @ 44 °C
RAM: 32GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1330MHz (16-18-18-35)
Motherboard: MSI PRO B660-A DDR4 (MS-7D59) @ 31 °C
GPU: 16304MB Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT

I tried this and nothing exceeds 78 degrees Celsius, I'm really confused, I think I've checked everything, I can still upload screenshots soon.

when i first launch, the first link also wasn't sure about the virtual memory load on the first image but it was red and that didn't work well usually.
second link starts failing - https://imgur.com/a/zgfLzhY

Let me check those screenshots. Your game is running low on frames, starting at 110 and going down to around 50-60.

Well, for one thing there is no memory available. Almost all of your physical AND virtual memory are being used. Either you have a real problem with a memory hole type issue, or something, or, IDK what. Unless you have a whole lot of stuff running alongside Windows and your game, or unless that game itself, is using a heck ton of memory. Shut down, not restart. Shut down, then start it back up and see if the memory usage still looks like that.

sorry i missed mentioning that someone mentioned a possible RAM speed problem. i have 32 gigs normally using two sticks of 8 gig, which totals 3200, and the other two are 2600. i only used the faster RAM shown in those pictures. the same FPS issues appear when i have 32 gigs of RAM, and it really uses a lot of memory.

Well, actually you don't have any memory running at 3200MT/s, and it IS "MT/s" (Megatransfers per second) NOT "Mhz". Memory speed isn't measured in Mhz even though some less critical retailers advertise it that way. It isn't accurate and you would be wise to use MT/s so people know you are on point with your information.
But the fact that you have a pair of 2600 MT/s sticks in there means ALL of the memory has to run at that speed or lower. You cannot have memory running at two different speeds. Not sure why "it does use a lot of RAM" because it shouldn't be. There is no way that any game should be using ALL of your physical memory AND all of your virtual memory. In light of that, you'd probably be better off running all 32GB if the sticks will run together, rather than having only 16GB at 3200 MT/s.
And again, I'd shut the system down, restart, run your game and see if it does the same thing after a shut down and restart, in the same amount of time.
How long has this Windows installation been? Like, how much time has passed since you performed a clean install, and by clean install I mean a fresh setup from scratch, not just restoring from a backup image or anything similar. Simply put, it's been that long since you started with a brand new system.

The system shows poor performance with mixed RAM, no remaining life left, and both physical and virtual memory fully occupied. This indicates significant issues. It would be wise to check the task manager for processes consuming all available memory—your game might have a memory leak if it's the only one using it. You should also replace your current drive with a new 32 GB RAM kit and a fresh drive before it fails.

Shutting down is similar to putting the computer into hibernate mode, particularly when fast boot and startup are enabled. To ensure everything is cleared, restart the system instead of shutting it down.

Yeah, I've tried both with and without the RAM in the 32 gigabytes setup. I did a factory reset about a month ago, but not a clean install from a flash drive or something similar—I haven't done that in a while. Yeah, mixed RAM isn't ideal, but I've used the same mixed DDR4 RAM for three years without any problems on other games. It's really weird, though, and the drive is an SSD I don't use much; it's just there for storage. I'm using a 1TB NVMe drive for my main storage.
