The file explorer stops working after a right-click.
Hey there, folks. I've been facing this odd problem with my PC after setting it up. Whenever I try to right-click in the sidebar of File Explorer, it keeps messing things up—like deleting shortcuts and closing the explorer. It seems to come back after a while, even though I've reinstalled the OS three times. It might be linked to something I don't fully understand. I've attached a video for reference. What do you think is causing this?
No software is being used to adjust Windows' default settings, such as WinAero tweaker.
It wasn't that kind of thing, really. At first I thought it might be RevoUninstaller, so I didn't install that program this time.
Typically, the software you install after a system reinstall often causes issues. You might want to check ShellExView to inspect the right-click context menu hooks and disable some to identify the problem.
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I understand you're new to this software and would appreciate some guidance on how to get started. Could you let me know what specific task or feature you're trying to learn? This will help me provide the most useful instructions.
Organize the list by category and examine the items in the "Context Menu" section. Review the entries you recognize as installed programs—ignore Microsoft products—and disable any that seem unnecessary. After restarting Explorer, right-click on them and turn off the ones you don’t need. Re-enable the rest one by one to test if the problem resolves.
Same issue arises with a brand new vanilla Windows 11 setup. I can temporarily halt it by accessing Folder Options and removing the File Explorer history, though it resets quickly.
