Each time I start this game, it shows an error in the title. How can I begin playing my favorite console title on PC? To be honest, I've changed drivers back to the previous version and used the latest AMD drivers from Raptr. I deleted the game saves from the cloud and stopped uPlay entirely. The program crashes within seconds of launching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Lewis.

Remove the file AC4BFSP.exe from the game directory and restart the application. This should resolve the issue by fetching a fresh version or requiring you to download the entire game from Uplay, making sure to back up your saved games first.

You can run the game by placing it in a folder outside the game directory and then navigating there.

From Uplay, pick AC IV from the game options. It will show which files are missing, prompting a download or update. The game should launch afterward—this process was needed for Settlers 7 two years ago following an update.

Check if the issue lies elsewhere and confirm whether the game is available on an external storage device. Most current UBI titles require installation on internal drives to function properly.
