I need to set up wake-on-lan so my phone can turn on my sleepy PC. My build uses the Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard with a Realtek RTL8168/8111 adapter, which Gigabyte says supports wake-on-lan. I’ve downloaded the newest drivers from their site and even tried older ones, but nothing works. I turned on wake-on-lan in BIOS and added “Wake on magic packet” and “shutdown wake-on-lan” under the adapter settings. Still, the power management section shows the option grayed out. I ran the command powercfg -deviceenablewake with the exact name of my Ethernet card, but got a message saying I don’t have permission to change device wake. Since I’m the only user and have admin access, I’m stuck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

From a random Google search, look into the Power Management area and try turning on the PME EVENT WAKE UP feature. Save this setting before exiting the program. After restarting Windows, open Device Manager, verify the LAN controller status, and later enable the device wake-up option. It might be necessary to adjust BIOS settings—perhaps they removed or disabled Wake on LAN during an update to accommodate newer Ryzen chips in a smaller 16 MB chip.

Several devices need you to turn on the network boot option for WoL to work. I tried it on one before turning it off again, since the extra delay—about five seconds—was unnecessary for what I was doing.

I also found it, though your BIOS doesn’t include a PME EVENT WAKE UP feature under power management settings.

Your computer must be linked through an Ethernet cable, not Wi-Fi.

I've checked both PXE boot to LAN enabled and disabled settings, but the result remains unchanged. The option stays hidden.
