I moved a folder containing several .EXE files and related documents from my laptop to my PC. When trying to open them, I received an error about Windows being unable to open the file because of security settings that seemed illogical. The icons for the .EXEs looked generic instead of the usual ones. All files on that drive were transferred via my network from my laptop, and this was the only instance this occurred. Initially, I suspected a problem with file name length, so I relocated the files to a higher directory. After that change, two out of three .EXE files could be opened, and once they were in the root folder, they were accessible. This situation would normally point to a file name length issue, but I noticed other files with longer names deep in nested folders that worked fine.

I’m trying to figure out why this was flagged as a security warning and why only these files were affected. Any suggestions?

Received a message indicating that Windows is unable to open the file because of security restrictions, which seems confusing. Further clarification is required.

The selected choice isn't available. I also attempted to reset internet settings to their standard configuration as recommended in previous discussions.

Files are being processed on your laptop, correct? Choose a few files, move them via USB, and place them on the PC. Verify their functionality to identify the issue—whether it lies with the network or the computer.
