Hello, I purchased an HP Z240 SFF and swapped both the case and components. I upgraded the PCU and GPU accordingly. For the PCU I used a Segotep 750W modular power supply with a 28-pin connector, but it came with a 24-pin adapter. The GPU was a 12G-BOOST 3060. My issue started after connecting everything via an adapter meant to convert the motherboard power to 24V. When I tried to start the PC and connected the new power supply, I received a failure beep. I've tested two different cables and am unsure if the problem lies with the cable or the PCU (which was brand new). I've also confirmed all BIOS and driver updates were applied. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You're asking about a 28-pin connector, but that doesn't match the Z240 PSU. Let's try using the original Z240 PSU instead.

Start by verifying all PSI 24pin and 6pin connections. Remove other components except the motherboard and CPU. If issues continue, the power supply is likely the cause.

The PSU side modular connector has 28 pins and includes extra wires on the 24-pin ATX cable. It supports dual PICE for better power monitoring. Which adapter are you using to change the standard ATX 24-pin connector to HP's proprietary ones? Did it mention support for the HP Z240?

I used a case and some different adapters, both claimed to work but didn’t. When I connect the original PCU, it boots fine. Also, with the new PCU, the motherboard light turns green but doesn’t power on fully—it gives a beep pattern: three long beeps followed by four short ones when the power button is pressed. Appreciate the tips!
