I’m aiming to get straight to it—I downloaded the game mainly to preload it without risking losing money. I already own the game, so feel free to look at my setup. I’m just trying to place the files in the Steam folder and check the cache before playing. Do you know what the root directory looks like inside SteamApp under Common?

This request won't function if the game is cracked or modified. Sadly, without more details I can't assist with torrented files. You'll need to find another source, as this goes against the rules here.

there is no crack and I haven't downloaded anything illegal, so I'm just following the rules. I wanted to play as soon as I paid, but I wasn't planning to spend $70. The valve said no and told me you've only played for a couple of seconds—no refund. @Atmos To add, a mod could remove it if they choose.

Thanks everyone, it seems like things are getting tough to handle right now, but I'm still unsure.

I mentioned in your original message that for me to assist you, or anyone else, in explaining how to set up the illegally downloaded files so Steam can use them properly, it means enabling or encouraging piracy. It's similar to a situation where someone asks how to disguise their illegally purchased weed as medical-grade and store it in a container they bought for medical use, after disposing of the previous item. Whether you purchased the game or not, those files were still pirated. I do have to say something positive though—at least you showed some consideration by still buying the game later.

torrent isn't always the best way to get games, but you can find patches through torrents. You don’t need to thank me for anything, it’s just what I planned. I aimed to check the game thoroughly before buying, but I didn’t want to wait 12 hours after release. Eventually, I got the info I needed—no need for endless debates. Just wanted to be honest instead of playing 20 questions.
