Hey there! That wasn't me at all. Apologies for the mix-up.

I would try booting another OS. Perhaps Linux off a thumb drive. If Internet connectivity returns we'll know Windows is doing something dumb. Going forward checking for DHCP may be worth it (though usually the red X means it doesn't detect a active cable at all). If no internet connectivity appears and the Interface isn't disabled in the BIOS there's the possibility you have a dead NIC.

When I get back, I might disable DHCP and check for a red cross. That would be helpful. Or if you're interested, it could be useful too. I'm pretty certain I saw a red cross earlier.

I need to confirm this. I just realized the yellow triangle usually appears when you have an IP address, yet Windows still doesn’t indicate internet access. This would be what I expect if the connection is active but not properly reported.

I'll also verify it's not the router by connecting my laptop. Hopefully my onboard Ethernet is off. I'll attempt the Linux route since I think the update might be the problem.

Dead nic refers to a situation where a network interface isn't recognized, often due to hardware issues or configuration problems. I’m hoping I won’t have to buy a new Ethernet card or mobile device.

The DHCP isn't working, but your Ethernet cable and router seem fine. Which Linux distribution should you switch to?
