Consider updating your profile tomorrow by bringing your PC to the basement and connecting via Ethernet for the BIOS update. This method should work for your ASUS Z170K. Regarding the BIOS flash drive, if it doesn’t appear during the update process, check the correct drive path or ensure the USB is properly connected.

According to what you mentioned, there’s no internet method to update the BIOS. You need to use Asus’s Windows program or manually load the BIOS file onto a USB drive and apply it via the BIOS interface. Also, confirm your flash drive is properly formatted.

Are you required to follow a specific format for bios updates? Your motherboard does allow bios updates via BIOS, though the internet connection isn’t working—connecting via Ethernet might be necessary because your Wi-Fi dongle needs drivers on your operating system.

Which motherboard model do you own? The thumb drive format (often FAT32) should be noted in the owner's manual. For USB Wi-Fi dongles, ensure drivers are installed to avoid conflicts with BIOS, while Ethernet should function within the BIOS settings.

I plan to try it tomorrow using Ethernet, and the Asus Z170K is the model I have.

It seems you can refresh the information via the internet in the BIOS, though proceed with caution. A sudden loss of internet might damage the board. It’s safer to start with a USB connection beforehand.

The available choices are listed in the bios, and if the bios fails, the board would become ineffective.

Formatting your USB in fat 32 should work, but ensure your system supports it and you have the necessary permissions.

Ensure the bios file is the sole item on the thumb drive, not part of any folder. This setup should function correctly.
