The connection kept dropping after 10-20 minutes, sometimes earlier, and often included messages like 'default gateway not available.' Windows troubleshooting helped but the problem repeated later. Could be a hardware issue? Your router is fairly old, and the issue began after switching ISP providers.

If you're unsure, use a free utility such as Drive Booster to scan your PC for updates and install them. Another option is to look for firmware updates for your router—typically found at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 by default. If none of these steps work, consider resetting your network settings: open Command Prompt by typing "cmd" in the search bar, right-click it and choose Run as administrator, then enter "netsh int ip reset" and press Enter to restart your PC.
