Hello. The current situation with Corona influences my work. I need to extend a Cat 5/5e Ethernet cable around 50 meters. Will the performance be affected? Thank you very much! Stay safe!

Cat 5e performs well at 1Gbps distances exceeding 100 meters, while Cat 5 suits connections over 10 meters at the same speed.

Typically base standards are tested at 100 meters, which is acceptable. For Ethernet, performance matches one of the specified link rates (such as 10GbE, 1GbE, 100m), and with no issues or interruptions, it will operate at that rate.

If the gap is more than ten feet, consider switching to a higher-grade cable like Cat6 for improved safety and performance.

CAT 6 is generally priced higher than standard cables.

I didn't really need it, as I found a Cat6a cable on Amazon for just ten dollars. The cost mostly depends on how long the cable is.
