Gather all the necessary information and transfer it to another storage device. Then, likely not—purchasing the drive recently may still be covered by warranty.
Save every important file that you can't afford to lose, then swap out the disk using a warranty service (if valid) or buy a replacement. All components with moving parts are prone to wear over time—it's inevitable. HDDs may last decades, sometimes just a few weeks, and occasionally they fail immediately when you try to start them.
I'll verify whether the warranty remains active. It's frustrating, but it's the current situation, thank you for your support!
It's quite possible the drive had issues from the start but weren't as noticeable before. I always check new HDDs before (with tools like SeaTools for example, running a full surface scan). If those pop up errors, the HDD is bad or will fail over time, which is what you probably have on your hands right now. Best thing you can do is to not shut down your system until you have everything saved. Not shutting down because if the error is of mechanical nature it may not work again the next time you boot it up. As long as it spins there is a higher chance to get all the data off without corruption. All HDDs have a limited amount of sectors that are allowed to fail. Your drive is still under that limit but not far from it. Given the short usage of said drive, it is very unlikely that those sectors would be damaged by now. Normally you would see maybe 1 or 2 that would go bad and that would throw an error as well but would not be concerning because usually those were there from the start. First I would recommend to backup. Next thing you can try is to replace the SATA cable. There is a chance you have a bad cable, a very tiny chance but it has happened for me before. For some reason SATA cables actually go bad.
HDDs lack a health score, which is how Hard Disk Sentinel simplifies the information. Your storage had 264 sectors failing, and it could only retrieve data from 8 of them. That’s a significant recovery in just 10 minutes. As mentioned before, any crucial information on that drive should be moved immediately if there’s no backup. A replacement is recommended.
