Steam updates are taking longer than usual—sometimes an hour for a 500MB patch. My download speed usually hits about 1 gig, but something is slowing it down, making it start and stop. This only happens on Steam; other platforms like Epic or Battle.net don’t have the same issue. I use Vancouver servers for downloads. My system runs a Ryzen 7 5800X, Gigabyte 3060ti v2 OC, ML240L aio, and several high-end components. I’ve got a lot of storage and decent SSDs, but CPU temps are normal. No hardware changes have been made recently. I’ve tried several fixes: changing download location, clearing the cache, disabling Windows Defender, reinstalling Windows/Steam, switching drives, and using Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet. It seems only Steam is affected, which is confusing since others aren’t having the same problem. Any suggestions?

your disc performance is at 100%, but response is very slow. it seems the download speed isn't the problem. i think the installation of edit might be the cause—this is what i usually see for me. your download speed matches yours, yet your hard drive is only 5% used. this suggests your drive might be faulty or old; i’d replace it if possible. also, check the dl speed—it should be higher, but yours is 0 because the drive can’t write anything at full capacity. if this happens with all drives, consider removing external drives. otherwise, it could be a motherboard or bios issue, but without more details, it looks like the drive isn’t keeping up.

Thank you for your feedback. It seems the issue isn't with the drives, as all other systems are functioning correctly.

It seems your disc usage is at full capacity, possibly due to how Steam manages certain games. If other platforms function normally, the most likely cause is related to Steam. This situation could shift anytime, so it's definitely something that might occur occasionally.
