I possess an HP 705 g1 sff paired with an AMD A-10 7800b APU. It operated smoothly in dual-channel mode on DIMM slots 1 and 3. The RAM modules I was using were: two 4GB modules at 1333MHz each, purchased a few days ago. I recently added a second 4GB module—a Samsung model—at 1600MHz (800MHz individually). After installation in slot 4, everything worked as expected in BIOS. However, in Windows the system reports only 9 GB of RAM available, with my GPU consuming about 1 GB regularly. This means two modules aren’t usable together; one stick provides roughly 2.9 GB. When I removed the new module and restarted, Windows displayed 5 GB reserved. I tried several fixes: reseating CPU and RAM, disabling maximum boot RAM, adjusting cooler tension, tightening screws, unplugging and replugging the motherboard, rearranging the slots. The results varied—sometimes only one stick worked in slot 1, sometimes two in different slots but both unresponsive or showing fan noise. In some cases, switching between slots resolved the issue. Ultimately, the PC functions perfectly when RAM is in slots 1 and 2, but when placed in 2, 3, or 4, both sticks remain unrecognized or fail to boot, with the CPU fan entering high-speed mode repeatedly. I’m unsure what to do next and regret my earlier English mistakes. Thank you for any help you can provide.
