About a year prior I shared a challenge with my computer: essentially it would start up briefly before shutting down repeatedly. After several tries and some tweaks, it occasionally booted successfully. Once it was running normally, things stabilized. Previously, the main workaround was simply leaving it off—something that seemed to help in my earlier discussion. Turning it on occasionally worked fine too. The biggest hurdle was putting it into sleep mode; it always functioned properly when restarted. Even during power failures, it would restart without issues. However, it sometimes remained on for extended periods. Recently, a change occurred: it would shut down abruptly, just like I had done before. No obvious cause, but I wasn’t the one who changed it. Now it won’t come back on. Worse still, pressing the power button no longer triggers any response. This happened during my first use of mGBA, so it might be connected, though I can't confirm. I attempted basic fixes—disconnecting power cords and trying different methods—but nothing resolved the issue. I also tried jumping the power pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver to see if that caused a problem, though I wasn’t sure if I did it correctly. The power LED stays lit when the PSU is active, and the GPU lights up too. My guess is it’s related to the motherboard or CPU, but I’m open to other suggestions. I also checked temperatures over time; they stayed normal. My setup includes: Asus Sabertooth X99 board, i7 5820K processor (non-overclocked), GTX 1080 BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler, Corsair AX860i PSU, and Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 case.

I've cleaned my computer and tried several solutions. Changing the CMOS battery didn't help. Replacing the thermal paste also had no effect. I reduced RAM sticks and used only motherboard, CPU, cooler, and case tools during boot attempts. The PSU passed self-test, and I removed the thermal shield, checking components—nothing obvious wrong. The CPU was taken out; both the top and back appear normal. It's strange it stopped suddenly despite everything seeming fine. When trying to power on, no fan spins and the power pins look misaligned. Now the only choice seems buying a new motherboard and CPU, which feels odd since the system should have lasted longer. I'd appreciate more opinions on this!
