Ok so hope I can describe this well enough but sometimes more then others my second screen which is a tv will go black if I unplug it from the tv or the graphics card it comes back sometimes for a day sometimes will go a month. And sometimes along with loosing the display some applications will go black usually on the tv like the application is still there it is just a black window. I don't see anything in event viewer. graphics card is a 1070 windows 10 pro
The device performs this action consistently each time you disconnect it. You suspect an issue, but it could be related to the setup. The term “it” might need clarification—removing the plug because it turns black suggests a different cause than overheating. It seems the CPU rather than the GPU is likely involved. Knowing the exact model would help. There’s also a chance the laptop malfunctions when you detach the second screen without powering off, possibly affecting the TV connection. The relationship between the two units isn’t clear from what was shared.
It seems to be a desktop setup, possibly a Samsung 32-inch CPU with a 11700K motherboard, TUF Z590, Wi-Fi included. The main monitor is an ASUS model. There have been instances where the TV would go black multiple times during use, sometimes switching to the main monitor and other times not. I unplugged the TV at the time. Occasionally, only certain apps would freeze or shut down, but the TV itself remained functional. Hardware data shows temperatures are normal, and BIOS readings look okay.
The information suggests it’s likely a home-built solution, possibly using a dedicated graphics card rather than relying solely on the integrated GPU.
Not used to sc terminology, but it might help. I’ll treat it as a standard 1070. VV is likely. It’s an old card, so there’s a chance it could start failing eventually. I haven’t seen any of these fail this way before. Probably just some kind of artifacting. I’m curious about the rest of Windows—do we have version 10 or 11? Which update matters? Or maybe not. The latest is 9h22 in both cases. I’d like to double-check the other hardware too. A chkdsk run probably wouldn’t hurt.
It's been a while since I've been busy, but I kept working and things got worse. I ran an SFC/scannow quickly and spotted some corrupt files. After fixing them a few times randomly, it seems fine, though I don't want to rush ahead. Then I installed a fresh graphics driver after Avast, which let me download from NVIDIA's site.
