I have an old Asus 27" 1200p monitor that has developed an issue of needing to warm up and coming in to focus in order to work. Once it's finally focused, the colors are still wrong, so then I have to turn it off and on again, and then it's fine. If you're gone for a while and come back and Windows has put the monitors to sleep, then it has to do it again. I'm not sure how best to describe it, so I recorded a video of it. Any idea what's wrong/how to fix it? It's kinda neat, reminds of something out of a space or horror movie, but it's not great for daily use.

I've noticed this with older displays before. It clearly shows wear and is definitely nearing the end of its life. You probably won't want to risk it, but you might need to consider getting a new one soon.

Probably the protective covers on the power source were damaged.

I’d just purchase a replacement if I were you... I own the identical monitor, yet I swapped it for an MSI model.

If you can't afford a replacement right now, just apply the Windows power-saving options and ensure both screen and system are set to Never sleep. This won't change the monitor itself but will help when it wakes up as a temporary fix.

It's time to switch to the latest decade and upgrade your display.
