Ray tracing on 20 series lags noticeably compared to 30 series, which makes sense given the performance constraints. It has often been seen as a promising feature for the future, but currently it feels impractical due to slow speeds. If the app doesn't respond well in Windows, the problem likely lies in the software itself.

Delays in loading might point to problems with your storage devices or the operating system. Games running might also be causing the issue. Updates can sometimes lead to these problems, possibly due to background tasks or malware.

I’m running a fresh Windows 10 setup with no detected threats. I’ll conduct some performance tests and share the outcomes—perhaps I’ll be seeing better results than expected.

The setup has great potential, but Kilrah suggested it might be the RAM speed. Ray trading isn’t worth the performance loss—turn it off for a much smoother experience at 1440p, especially with DLSS enabled.

I tested the following benchmarks; my PC score seems a bit low. Cinebench Multi 14425, Cinebench Single 1181 (ratio 12.21x), 3D Mark (Time Spy) 14383 – links provided. PC Mark (Express) 5569 – link included.

Upgrade your boot drive to the 2TB 970 Evo Plus once it arrives. It offers 1GB of SDRAM compared to 512MB on the 500GB model, which could make a noticeable difference.

consider removing it first, verify the new version, confirm the SHA256 hash of the ISO, and reinstall it

Thanks for your assistance all around. I'm planning to install the 2TB EVO Plus (probably two) and a 32GB Quad Channel memory kit (still unsure which one). Check it out here: https://www.ebuyer.com/772409-g-skill-tr...16q-32gtzr Updated May 20, 2021 by missing1981 added ram

I checked the costs of all parts, just to see what it was. I’m also wondering what you’re targeting with the 3090—what version or model are you looking for? And which specific 3090 reference or AIB do you have in mind?

EVGA Card is counting on a FTW3 arriving soon so it can be used for gaming and video editing. I’m considering getting a threadripper and setting it up as a secondary machine, but the decision will depend on price and stock levels.
