Hey everyone. Three days ago I went home to spend the weekend with my parents. I left the window in my room open, which means my desk and computer were exposed. On Saturday night after a stormy evening, I returned to find my desk soaked through with water. My computer was still on, but the fans were spinning wildly, almost as if it was about to shut down. I saw everything wet and thought maybe I could save it. I unplugged it right away. When I opened it, the inside was covered in water droplets everywhere—GPU, motherboard, CPU fan, and even a small puddle formed near the power supply unit. I told myself this machine was dead. I figured there wasn’t much I could do, so I took it apart piece by piece and dried it with a heater. The next day, after a long workday, I came back home and reassembled everything. When I tried to turn it on, the fans started spinning too loudly, the GPU sounded like it was trying to escape, and the monitor showed no signal or lights—just the fans going wild. That’s when I realized this computer wasn’t working anymore. Three days later, I decided to dig deeper. I powered it on without removing anything, checked that the fans were normal, the monitor displayed a signal, and the desktop loaded normally. Everything seemed fine. I was amazed. How did it survive such a mess? Is modern hardware that tough? My mind was stunned.

You were fortunate. Grounding matters, high-quality parts are important now, and those early days with minor issues are behind us—most systems still work today.
