I've been working on a computer, using the power cable, and it's turning on and then shutting off right away. What should I do?

The initial issue was identified, and the system appears to be starting up.

it isn't starting and i experimented with power and the LED wires on different connectors, maybe they were swapped, but after taking the cables out it's still not functioning

You're asking about the power cable—whether it's the power button cable or something else. Make sure the pins aren't bent; if they are, gently straighten them with a tweezer. If the issue persists, the cable might be damaged. Share the exact cable model so I can help further. Check the motherboard manual for optimal placement guidelines.

it's the power button cable, but it seems disconnected now. When I try to activate it with a screwdriver and tap the pin that powers the PC, it won't respond.

Maybe the board is dead, give the pins a try once. If that fails, the GPU might not be working right. Have you used BIOS before? Were there any other issues with your PC before this happened?

The GPU might have been shutting down during heavy tasks. Try checking system logs, updating drivers, or reducing background processes to see if the issue persists.

just to clarify, when you try to turn on the PC, there's no sounds or fans spinning or anything? if the GPU kept causing a shutdown it could be that the PSU couldn't deliver enough power. What are your system specs? And if you're comfortable with it, some pics would help.
