Hello, I’m looking to purchase a XPS 13 i7 Kaby Lake laptop. They offer a developer edition, but I’m not sure if that’s what I need. I couldn’t find reliable information online, so I’m hoping this will help. Is Linux compatible with this model? Thanks.

Thank you for your message. The main reason I inquired was due to reported installation problems caused by bios incompatibility, among other issues. Bye.

The more precise inquiry is identifying which x86-based systems lack Linux support.

This statement implies that exclusive equipment can still lead to complications.

is that the Dell XPS? there sre version that shipped with Ubuntu OEM so I doubt you will have problems. I dont see how the BIOS could be incompatible with linux. What I look for is if the wifi chipset drivers have been included in the kernel. Everything else should work

Great job. The main idea is you mentioned nearly everything, which is quite different from simply stating Dell has problems.

Ubuntu is known for its broad compatibility, and it's free to install, which makes me confident it functions until tested.
