The Dell laptop is not turning on?
A friend provided me with a Dell Latitude 5510 laptop. The machine won't turn on. Pressing the power button causes the backlight to stay on, then shut off, and the power button remains active before turning off. After removing the memory, no improvement was noticed. I've tested a working power adapter, but the issue persists. Anyone have suggestions? It might be related to the motherboard.
Do you notice any LED flashes on the Capslock of the laptop's keyboard? Unplug the laptop from the power source and take out the internal battery. Take off the ram stick(s) and use an eraser to clean the gold contacts on the ram stick(s). While the laptop is being disassembled, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to remove any remaining power. Reinsert the ram and try turning it back on using just the power brick, not the internal battery, to check if it works. In the worst situation, there might be a short circuit.
