This problem has been bothering me for a long time, and I’ve finally decided to tackle it. Still, I need some guidance. My Dell G5 5590 runs with updated BIOS and drivers, connected to a Focusrite 18i8 audio interface. Theoretically everything should function smoothly, but in reality it drops intermittently—usually between 5 and 30 minutes. When it cuts out, playback freezes with intense glitches, pops, and high latency. The worst part happens during calls in apps like Discord; the delay becomes obvious, and other participants get frustrated. The usual fix is to pause playback and wait a few seconds or restart the interface. Using Bluetooth headphones for extended periods without issues hints this might be an ASIO-related issue. ASIO can be tricky, but there’s a guide for real-time audio in Windows if you’re interested. The issue likely stems from Dell laptops conflicting with Windows ACPI drivers, leading to audio buffer underruns. Many Dell users have reported this problem using LatencyMon in forums. The only known solution is a BIOS update, which Dell doesn’t offer. This post is just a guess, but if anyone sees this and thinks it could help real-time audio users, let’s try together.

I'm facing the same problem too. My DELL G15 5515 is paired with an Nvidia RTX 3060 and a AMD Ryzen 7 5800 H processor. I've tried numerous solutions—updating drivers, removing certain DELL software, turning off the high precision event timer, using only the Nvidia card with Optimus disabled so it runs solely on the GPU. Still nothing works consistently. Windows 10 and 11 don't help, and I haven't installed any apps during a fresh install. The DPC latency problem is also affecting my audio, making it stutter during Teams calls or meetings. Even in games, there are noticeable glitches like audio freezing for a few seconds and brief system freezes when moving the mouse. There aren't any useful logs pointing to the cause, and I've recorded times manually to check for patterns, but nothing consistent appears. It varies—sometimes it happens 2 to 4 times a day, other days more. Many users with DELL laptops report similar issues. It's frustrating because the components seem outdated; most machines come with single-rank SODIMM slots, not dual. My previous DELL Latitude 3570 (a mid-range model) never had these problems, even though it was a budget machine. It's surprising that a gaming PC with much more power doesn't have the same issues. I'm not sure what else to try. DELL even replaced my motherboard and swapped the SSD, but the problem persisted. They offered a refund for a different model, so I considered looking at the G15 5520 with an Intel 12th Gen CPU. Unfortunately, reviews show it still has the same DPC latency issue.
