It seems a Dutch firm has announced they’re using a patented formula to create game worlds, sparking speculation about potential delays due to perceived financial incentives.
Either it's a legit "business" or something that's been sitting dormant for a while, piling up patents and waiting for something like this to happen. IF Sony backs Hello, them Dutchies don't have much of a chance. Also, re-reading the article and the claims makes the bull smell even more pungent. It's like patenting E=mc^2 and then asking everyone for royalties because physics happens whether you want it or not. brb while I patent the equation for a square. And a triangle. And any shape in general.
This story suggests a controversial attempt to secure intellectual property over mathematical formulas applied in software. The idea raises questions about the legitimacy of patenting abstract concepts and the potential for misuse. There are concerns about the practicality of applying such formulas to real-world objects like 3D balls, highlighting differences between 2D and 3D representations. The narrative also touches on broader issues around patents, innovation, and corporate strategy, suggesting a possible motive beyond original intent.
This project is likely to let down many players. Still, I believe it won’t be postponed again. They’ve pushed it back so much that it’s become a running joke after several E3 appearances and years of development. I’m hoping it turns out well, but I doubt it will meet the high expectations people have.
The mass-energy equivalence formula is a mathematical representation of a natural occurrence. The method used to create planets in a video game is a software tool. This is human-made, belonging to people or groups who developed it. It can be exclusive. Making random planets in a game isn't caused by the universe itself. That doesn't imply the legal issue has value, I'm uncertain. But this explains why it's not like E = mc².
I don’t think it’ll be a place full of endless chances. It’s more like a nice time to spend, especially with solid specs. But if you get too excited, people might be let down.
