Hey everyone! Just finished a fresh Windows 10 20H2 setup. Everything went through smoothly, but something’s odd—Windows Defender is turned off by default. I haven’t added any apps yet or connected to the internet, yet it’s asking for admin access in a popup. Is this typical behavior? Thanks a lot!
It seems similar issues arise with the latest versions of 20H2. You'll notice a notification indicating Windows Defender is disabled shortly after installation. It might be related to third-party antivirus software making the setup smoother.
Thanks! I realized Defender was inactive because I pressed the upward arrow on the taskbar side that displays background apps. The Windows Defender icon displayed an exclamation mark there. I didn’t see any notification slide telling me it was off.
