I’ve experimented with about 50 ranked matches in CS:GO and reached the top silver level. After a hiatus of roughly four to five months, my rank dropped and I lost my standing. Recently, I returned and played just three games so far—losing the first, winning the second, and tying the third. Now I’m ranked Gold Nova 2. This feels confusing. I wonder if the ranking system has changed since I haven’t played in a while, or if this is just a coincidence.

The ranking system seems ridiculous. You performed better than the ranked players, which should have moved you up. Unless you consistently ranked near the bottom and then improved?

I reached n3 after 45 matches, beginning from silver 3. It's not that difficult to climb the ranks, though it sometimes takes a long time. Still, it's a joke—I got ranked up for just two kills and 25 deaths. It was an enjoyable experience, with my trolling efforts getting rewarded.

It asks how the system decides my position after just three matches. I wasn’t at the very bottom, yet I felt pretty weak after a long break, so I think I definitely shouldn’t be Gold Nova 2.

The CS:GO ranking system seems confusing. There used to be times when I had a long streak of losses, while my friend consistently won multiple games in a row. We played together and ended up winning again, earning a top spot with an MVP medal, while he was still ranked lower. I feel puzzled because he has more playing time and seems to perform better than me in almost every aspect, yet I often get ranked higher. It’s frustrating seeing that I’m not good enough to compete against top players like him.

Just to clarify, after a while without playing, your rank stays hidden unless you win or draw. It only reappears if you improve compared to previous results. Since you improved and tied, you’ve likely moved up, even if it’s not obvious. Don’t worry—it’s not a joke, just the system’s way of tracking progress.

DMG was off when I stopped about four months ago and had a three-game losing streak. I returned after four months, participated in two comps, lost the first one, then got a win bonus to LE. I also heard about a VAC wave while I was away, saying LE players aren’t as strong now compared to the old LEs (who used to be better). It seems the game is more rewarding in DMG, LE, and LEM matches. I’m unsure if I’ll keep playing—this game can get really addictive. I tried to stop at 1500 hours, but since I played a bit from Saturday, I now have over 1522 hours of play. Lol!

You're right, it's quite low. Beginners often grasp the basics quickly. Many new players can reach Nova 2-4 without prior experience.

It's interesting how someone who always plays it well and seems to outperform you can be gold nova 3—something I find a bit surprising.
