Sorry, I was in a rush when I wrote this. The thermal paste was from the NZXT X62 Kraken Pre-applied. It was two years ago, and since then I’ve realized that pre-applied paste isn’t necessarily the best option.
Hi All. I’m happy to report the Case and CPU Cooler project went well. Switched from a NZXT X62 240mm radiator to a Dark Rock Pro 4, and upgraded the case to a Bequiet pure base 500. Everything worked perfectly—no issues at all. The CPU performed excellently after a few tests. Setup is quiet; using Bequiet Pure Wings 3 at low speeds with temperatures in the 50s and 60s during 1080p playback. Thanks to everyone who supported me, and have a great weekend! The CPU with cooler is a typical setup for AMD. When you insert the CPU into the socket and push the lever down, it shifts slightly and locks onto the pins through friction. It’s best to avoid taking the CPU out while the system is cold. Instead, let the computer sit idle on the Desktop for about 30 minutes, then run a game or stress test for 15 to 20 minutes so the thermal paste warms up. After that, shut down the system and, while the heatsink, CPU, and thermal paste are still warm, remove the CPU. The heatsink or cooler should easily detach or twist off. I remember this from my AM2 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (after swapping to Athlon 64 X2 6000+) and a Phenom II X6 1090T—once, twice, never again. FX-8350 also stayed put.
